Annual Young Women’s Conference
Annual Young Women’s Conference – The 8th annual Young Women’s Conference My Journey, My Voice: ‘Empowering Young Women’ took place on December1st, 2011 at the Crowne Plaza, Monroe Township. The event was primarily conducted to develop and enhance leadership skills among the younger female population of the community and also educate them on cyber violence, substance abuse, stress management and tips to build up self-confidence. Our Nutritional counselor from Param Healthcare services conducted an interactive session on consuming a balanced healthy diet and clarified various queries and concerns the attendees had, on diet and health issues related to it. Additionally they were also educated about the consequences of underage drinking and tobacco use.

Shop Till You Drop – ParamCARE Foundation participated in the second annual “Shop Till you Drop” event, an annual fundraiser event held on 20th November 2011 to support Coalition for Healthy Communities, an organization that works on the mission to strengthen the community and reduce substance abuse among the youth in the Middlesex county. Our organization was proud to be part of this event where we could reach out to the community and distribute free educational materials on guidelines for healthy living through right food choice and physical activity.

Start Eating Healthy Day – In partnership with Shaping NJ, Jewish Renaissance Medical Center, Middlesex County department Of Public Health, YMCA of Raritan Bay and American Heart association, the “Start Eating Healthy Day” event was conducted in Perth Amboy, New jersey.
The commissioner of NJ Department of Health AND Human Services Mary O’Dowd was present at this event, which was held to educate the public on healthy food selection and preparation. We provided information on good nutrition, local sources of healthy foods and on how to make affordable and healthy food selections

Breast Cancer Awareness Month – In the month of October, the breast cancer awareness month, ParamCARE foundation partnered with Edison Township department of health and human services , JFK medical center and Wellness Community of Central Jersey in conducting the breast cancer awareness event at 100 Municipal Blvd, Edison, New Jersey. The participants were provided educational materials on risks for breast cancer, benefits of screening, role of diet and physical activity during cancer treatment and also in cancer prevention.
In addition we conducted breast cancer awareness event in association with Middlesex county office of Public Health at Mehndi Beauty Salon in Piscataway, New Jersey. It was an interactive session and the visitors to the salon were educated on Breast cancer prevention, early detection and the importance of having self- breast exam and annual clinical breast exam done regularly.

Prostate Cancer Awareness Event – In observance of Prostate cancer awareness month, our organization took part in the prostate cancer awareness event conducted by Middlesex county office of public health in association with Middlesex cancer coalition and Puerto Rican association for human development.
It was a family friendly health fair to honor the men of the family and also raise awareness on prostate cancer. ParamCARE foundation provided nutritional counseling and live demonstration of yoga was done where the audience joined in and learnt about a physical activity that could be useful as well as enjoyable.

Annual Pancreatic Cancer Event: We partnered with Middlesex County Office of Public Health and Cancer Institute of New Jersey in conducting the third annual pancreatic cancer awareness “Walk with us to find Cure” event on 24th September 2011 at the Roosevelt Park in Edison, New Jersey. The event is conducted every year to increase awareness and raise funds for pancreatic research to be conducted in the Cancer Institute of New Jersey. ParamCARE foundation also donated free T – shirts and provided healthy refreshments at the event. Large number of people turned out for the event and $2250 raised was donated towards pancreatic research at CINJ.

Community Health Fair – On 11th August 2011 ParamCARE foundation participated in the Community Health Fair conducted by the SDS English Church in New Brunswick, New Jersey in partnership with Robert wood Johnson Hospital, St Peters University Hospital, Care Alternatives Hospice, Blindness Prevention & Awareness Association and Jewish Family and Vocational services of Middlesex county. Free health screenings and information on various health care organizations were provided at the event. ParamCARE foundation conducted an interactive session on the benefits and role of nutrition and yoga in disease prevention and health maintenance. The program was well received by the community.

Choose your cover 2011 – ParamCARE Foundation cohosted the “Choose Your
Cover”, a skin cancer screening event along with Middlesex County Office of Public Health at Caledonia Park in Perth Amboy, New Jersey on 25th June 2011.Interested visitors to the park were screened for suspicious skin lesions by our Physician and RN from Param healthcare services and were also educated on skin cancer early detection and prevention through sun protection measures. Additionally free sun screen lotions and healthy refreshments were provided at the event by our organization.
Nutritional Seminar
National Nutrition Month: In observance of the national nutrition month in March, ParamCARE foundation organized a nutritional seminar for the community at its facility in Iselin. Our registered dietician from ParamCARE foundation gave a brief video presentation on Choosing Healthy Fats and Benefits of High fiber diet. Followed by this there was a question answer session when the audience were able to interact with the dietician and clear their concerns. Monthly one on one dietary counseling for seniors with special dietary needs was initiated from then on. Additionally home visits by dieticians for people who have disability issues were also begun.
