Cervical Cancer Awareness Event

ParamCARE foundation hosted a Cervical Cancer Awareness event in observance of the Cervical Cancer Awareness Month on 1/26/14 in Iselin, NJ. Inaugurating the event, Mr. Vipul, Amin Director of ParamCARE foundation spoke to the participants about the need for increased awareness among the public about signs and symptoms of cancers like these and the facilities available for early detection. Proper utilization of these services might help reduce the burden of cancers in the community and pave way for building a healthier community, he said.
Mr. Jim Major, Councilman, Iselin and Menlo Park Terrace were also present at the event. Mr. Major spoke on why it is very important to know about how these cancers affect women and how it presents so that it can be recognized early and treated on time to prevent serious consequences.
This event was conducted in partnership with the Chronic Disease Coalition for Middlesex and Union Counties, which ParamCARE Foundation has been an active member of, since its inception. Health Educator from the Coalition was present to give an Educational presentation on Cervical Cancer. Apart from that the participants were shown how a normal cervix looks and also the appearance of cancer at various stages, through artificial educational models.
The participants showed a lot of interest in understanding how the cancer presents and also on how to get screened. Educational materials and information on free and low cost screening resources were provided to all those who participated.
